| Esta pesquisa de mestrado visou realizar o balano histrico e crtico da fortuna que se ocupou do
poema Os Lusadas, sobretudo em Portugal, desde a sua primeira expresso, ainda em fins do sculo XVI,
at a primeira metade do sculo XIX. Para isso, buscou-se observar as questes colocadas por parte
considerada representativa desta fortuna no que concerne ao poema, tendo em vista mais particularmente
o debate gerado em torno do emprego da mitologia greco-romana por Lus de Cames. Ao longo de todo o
debate, procurou-se divisar as matrizes intelectuais que orientaram a produo dessas obras, assim como
assinalar as questes que mantiveram o seu interesse no decorrer dos anos e aquelas que deixaram de ter
importncia para o debate que marca toda esta fortuna. Os dois primeiros captulos expem a importncia
da preceptstica clssica nas reflexes acerca da arte nas sociedades dos sculos XVI, XVII e XVIII. A
seguir, tratou-se a fortuna crtica de tendncia romntica, e procurou-se demonstrar as motivaes
ideolgicas que permitiram a ruptura crtica por ela promovida. Tendo sido feito este exerccio, buscou-se a
formulao de uma hiptese interpretativa verossmil para o emprego da mitologia greco-romana nOs
Lusadas. |

| The purpose of this work was to accomplish the historic and critical balance over the tradition of
the studies about the poem Os Lusadas, especially in Portugal, since its first expression, and by the ends
of the XVI century, until the first half of the XIX century. To achieve this objective, this work attempted to
observe the in part considered representative issues of this tradition regarding to this poem. More
specifically having in view the debate generated around the use of the greek-roman mythology by Lus de
Cames. Throughout all this debate, this work tried to fix the intectual matrices boundaries which guided
the production of these works, as well as how to mark the issues which maintained its interests through the
years and those which became no longer important for the caracteristic debate about this tradition. The first
two chapters expose the significance of the classicals precepts in the considerations concerning the art
from the XVI, XVII e XVIII centuries societies. Following, this work deliberates the romantic tendency of the
critical tradition, and attempted to show the ideological motivations that allowed the critical rupture
occasioned by it. Having this exercise concluded, an verisimilar interpretative hypothesis was formulated
about the usage of greek-roman mythology at Os Lusadas . |
